This is my first posting just to introduce myself to the Latino Community and the no-Latinos around our Latino Community in Pittsburgh.
I like the idea of using our space this way in addition to our great Noticiero and Our Web site. I had been a volunteer of LACU since 2003 and as father of two Mexican/American kids I feel a lot compromise to keep doing anything to preserve our culture and traditions thru our Latino community.
As Mexican LACU is the only real bridge between us living here and our Mexican side that’s why I found really important to be part of this effort. As artist I find this community very strong and fertile with a lot of possibilities to grow up and I feel proud for been a part of it.
Following this spirit and as music coordinator of LACU I have been working in another way to contribute to the increase of the Latino presence thru the music scene not just as musician, performing here and there. I called this project “Voices of Pittsburgh” that is a Web site to promote the Musical events, links to musicians and musical resources and info about concerts and reviews about what is happening around music in Pittsburgh, This site www.voicesofpittsburgh.com is for the musicians and I’ll put every event, commentaries, reviews, critiques, links or announces if you e-mail the proper information on time.
I’ll thank your contributions this site is so new and need to be filled with tons of information. So please if you think that something must be posted there send me an e-mail with few lines explaining why does it deserves to be posted with the proper links and complement commentaries. I’ll appreciate any critique about the way that this site looks and feedback.
